The train leaves the “End of the World Station” travelling añong the same embankment used by the Convict Train 100 years ago. It runs through the “Cañadon del Toro” and crosses the River Pipo on the “Burnt Bridge” where you can see the wooden ruins of the old bridge inderneath the new one. After that, the train stops at the “Macarena Station Waterfall” where visitors can go down to a reconstructed Indian campsite, typical of one of the four native tribes that lived in Ushuaia for thousand of years; the Yamanas. At this point it is possible to go up the steps to see the “Macarena Waterfall”, whose source is in the “Le Martial” mountain range, offering a fabulous view of the Pipo River Valley. After fifteen minutes, the guide will sound the whistle to warn you that the train is about to depart, continuing its journey to an area of sub – Antarctic forest, one of the last such forests in the world. The train enters the Tierra del Fuego National Park. Following the Pipo River the train crosses different sites where the prisoners worked every day for 50 years cutting down trees. Skirting the “turbal” (bog), a raised sphagnum moss bog typical of Tierra del Fuego, the train arrives at the “National Park Station”. At this point, during high season, visitors can make use of the toilet coaches. Passengers can then either return by train to the End of the Worls Station or continue their excursion deeper into the Tierra del Fuego National Park on pre-booked tour buses. During the journey passengers will be accompanied by a bilingual guide (Spanish –English), who will relate the history of the “Convict Train”.

Available: All year round

Price U$42.-
