Daily excursion to Fuerte Bulnes
Every day a 03:30 hrs P.M. (subject to availability)
No minimum of passengers required

Price per person $ 10.000.-

Does not include entrance fees: $ 1.000 per person

Live the history of our region and their people, travelling toward the south of the Brunswick Peninsula and bordering the legendary Strait of Magellan where will be possible to watch several species of marine birds and in a lucky day probably a coupleof dolphins and sea lions.
Located 60 kms south, the area reminds two colonization attempt in this southern lands, the first of them from 1584 when the Spanish government founded the “Ciudad del Rey Don Felipe” which failed due to the lack of food and constants indians attacks, the second foundation was when the Chilean Government established the Fuerte Bulnes taking posession of the Strait of Magellan in the name of Chile, this one also fails and the colny was moved to the current location of Punta Arenas
On the way is found the monument that shows the geographic centre of Chile considering the distance between the border with Peru and the South Pole

The richness of this island invites us to admire a show created by nature. This area is declared protected wilderness in August 1966 and reclassified National Park Natural Monument in 1982. Its purpose is to protect the avifauna, mainly composed of penguins, cormorants, gulls, among other species found there one of the largest colonies of penguins in Chile, whose population is estimated at 60,000 pairs of Magellanic penguins (Sphenicus Magallanicus) which is more than 95 percent of the bird community biomass.
Magdalena Island is located in central Magellan Strait, 35 km north of the city of Punta Arenas, and the tour begins plying the waters of the mythical Strait for 2 1 / 2 hours, the same route as the most daring navigators history, as Francis Drake, Pedro Sarmiento de Gamboa, Ferdinand Magellan, Charles Darwin, among others. Once we get to the island, we take a walk among hundreds of penguins that will go our way, which also allows us to get to the lighthouse on the island, where we have a view overlooking the entire island and surrounding areas. The time spent on the island is approximately one hour.

The tour starts early in the morning with the first light of day. Therefore, after crossing the border the dominant landscape is the vast and windswept steppes. During the tour you can view the distance to the Lake Argentino and the Santa Cruz River on their way to the Atlantic Ocean. After arrival in Calafate you have a short time available, to then start the trip to the Perito Moreno glacier. Once inside the park will be possible to recruit directly a navigation of 45 mintues it approaches the southern wall of the glacier, then you enter the gateway area where, through a series of stairs that connect different viewpoints can be seen ice giant. Return to Puerto Natales is the same way.

Travelling toward the south of the Brunswick Peninsula and arrive in Fuerte Bulnes is to go in the beginning of colonization in Patagonia on behalf the government of Chile in 1843. The road borders the mythical Strait of Magellan, where is possible to watch several species of marine birds such us Oyster catchers, geese, different species of ducks, cormorants, and in a lucky day probably dolphins and sea lions. Fuerte Bulnes is located 45 miles south of Punta Arenas and nowadays is a reconstruction of the first Chilean fortification on southern lands. During the government of Manuel Bulnes, the expedition of scooner Ancud commanded by Juan Williams founded the Bulnes Fort in October 30th 1843. In 1848 the colony was moved to the current location of Punta Arenas.

In the surrounding areas were found the ruins of Spanish city of King Phillip (Ciudad Del Rey Felipe), founded by Pedro Sarmiento de Gamboa in 1584, where most of the settlers died of starvation. Since then, this place is known as “Port Famine”. In the other side is located “San Juan Bay”, place used as base for the geographic expeditions leaded by Phillip Parker King, Robert Fitz-Roy and Charles Darwin between 1826 and 1834.

On the way is found the monument that shows the geographic centre of Chile.

This typical Patagonian farm is located 135 kilometres to the north of the city of Punta Arenas and its named is owed to the homonymous river crossing the area. The excursion begins bordering the Strait of Magellan, one of the most fascinating interoceanic navigation routes in the world. The route continues through the vast Patagonian steppe, populated by different bird such as lesser rheas, crested caracaras, ibises and the Chilean flamingo. During the tour it is possible to observe different farms, which are the base for the regional economic development. Upon arrival the staff will be waiting with a welcome cocktail and they will guide us to visit the house telling us the family’s history.

Afterwards we will enjoy a typical Patagonian lamb barbecue. The return is done by the same way. As optional extension a sheep shearing show is held in the farm.

In this venue, also is possible to practice fish and fly fishing previous booking for individual travellers.
