The excursion starts with the transfer to take the ferry service in order to cross the mythical and fascinating Strait of Magellan, used by the most valiant explorers in the history like Ferdinand Magellan, Francis Drake, Sarmiento de Gamboa and Charles Darwin among other. After two and a half hours sailing we will arrive in Tierra del Fuego (land of fire), named after Magellan’s expedition due to the bonfires done by the natives inhabiting the island. Upon arrival is time to visit the city of Porvenir and its well kept streets, the museum, the main square and the look-out to continue with the lunch time.
After lunch we will visit the area known as “Cordon Baquedano” where gold digging is still held as activity.
The wild life is composed mainly by Guanacos and birds like Crested Caracaras, Chimango caracaras and Flamingos among others.
The return is done flying over the Strait of Magellan to Punta Arenas in a short 20 minutes flight and from there in vehicle to the city.
